Hello from Room 7 and Miss Burton!!

In Literacy  we have written about our experience when we went swimming.  We have included what we really liked, what we found difficult and new swimming skills learnt. We all thoroughly enjoyed swimming.  We hope you enjoy reading our writing, and looking at our action shots whilst swimming!!

In Numeracy we have been focusing on different strategies used when completing addition and subtraction equations.  We have been using our 'Buddies to 10 ' knowledge to help us build to the next 10 in addition.  And when subtracting single digit numbers, we have been subtracting 10 first, then using our numbers to 10 facts to help us complete the equation.  We played games like 'Go Fish' and 'Race to 100.'

In Investigations our topic is 'Staying Alive!’  We have been investigating what we need as humans to stay alive, as well as how we can look after animals and plants to help them live their best lives.  We planted runner beans and sunflower seeds.  It was amazing how quick the runner beans grew, showing a shoot within 3-4 days. The size of their leaves also doubled within a few days as well. Our sunflower seeds grew fast, however, they were a little flimsy and needed to be re-potted. We hope they take off and become stronger in their new pot!
