Mental Health & Wellbeing Report

“The well-being and welfare of children should always be our focus.” – Todd Tiahrt

Dear Parents and Carers,

Over the past few editions of our Partners in Learning newsletter, I have provided information and advice about looking after you child’s wellbeing. Topics have included:

  • Praising, encouragement and positive attention
  • Positive self-talk
  • Maintaining good relationships
  • Taking notice or being mindful
  • Practicing kindness and gratitude; and
  • Promoting help seeking.

This week’s final topics are setting rules and boundaries and getting support about your child.

Set rules and boundaries

Clear rules and boundaries help children and young people feel safe. Involve your child in making the rules and they will be more likely to stick to them. Negotiating rules is a way of showing you respect their growing maturity.

Getting support about your child

If you are concerned about your child’s wellbeing, contact your child’s school. Start with their classroom teacher, year level coordinator or the Wellbeing leader. You can also contact Parentline 13 22 89 – a phone service for parents and carers of children from birth to 18 years old. This service offers confidential and anonymous counselling and support for parenting issues.

Please feel free to contact me on 9743 5818 if you would like any further information.

A friendly reminder

It is your responsibility to ensure your child comes to school with snacks and lunch. Over the past few weeks, more and more children are coming to school without food. If you require any support with supplying food, please contact Miss Aira Agarano or myself. Breakfast Club is also open each morning from 8.05am to 8.30am for ALL students to enjoy a healthy start to the day.

Kind Regards,

Vanessa Moore
