Term 4 Week 8 2022 - Friday 25th November

What have we been up to?

It has been another fun filled fortnight. All the students have been busy completing assessments and showing off what they have learnt this year. In Writing, we revisited and wrote our own procedures and explanations. In Reading, we have enjoyed independent reading and visiting the library. They have also read ‘Stellarphant’ and explored the meaning and origin of words and what makes a sentence. They learnt about fragments and different types of sentences such as, statements, questions and exclamations. In Maths, students revisited fractions and modelled and made halves, quarters, thirds wholes and eights. They also had fun making turtle clocks and telling the time on digital and analogue clocks. Inquiry saw the students visit more special places around the world and begin to make a travel brochure about these places. With only 3 weeks to go we are all excited for holidays, but a bit sad that this year is already coming to an end!

What’s coming up next?

Reading

In Reading, students will continue to develop their comprehension skills with a specific focus on how to find answering literal and inferential questions.

Writing

In Writing, students will revise the structure of a Narrative. They will revise the language features, text structure, and work on writing their own Narrative.

Maths

In Maths, students will be looking at a number or problem-solving strategies. These will include draw a picture, use concrete materials and act it out. They will also continue working towards achieving their academic and class WIGS which are also linked to Maths.

Inquiry & Science

In Inquiry, students will continue their exploration into the purpose and significance of key landmarks around the world. To finish off the unit, students will begin to plan and design their own special landmark for Le Page Primary School. In Science, students will continue their physical science unit on Forces. They will dive deeper into push and pull forces. Specifically, how different objects move in water and air, and the role gravity plays in how they move.
