In 2022 we’ve had another memorable year at Burwood East Primary School. This year we have welcomed 635 students through our doors and say farewell to 50 Year 6 students who begin their journey onto secondary school education. We have valued the dedication, resilience and humour that our great school celebrates.

This year was definitely a year of ‘renewal’ as we returned to a new normal and were able to utilise some of the learnings from the past few years, but also rebuild some of the community spirit that has made BEPS a great place to be. Whilst some parts of education can be easily transferred to an online environment, we have all appreciated the importance of face to face interactions within the community. This Yearbook enables us to celebrate all of those events that have brought us closer together and that make up the fabric of a school. We hope that families take the time to look through this together and reflect on the positive memories they have of the last 12 months.

We continue to be appreciative of our amazing BEPS staff who work relentlessly to nurture and develop our students’ through their focus on wellbeing and academic achievement. We feel grateful to work with a team of staff who see themselves as lifelong learners. Our staff work together as a team to challenge each other and reflect in order to create an engaging learning environment for all students, promoting the importance of goal setting and self-reflection. This Yearbook is an example of their dedication, but also the fun they have working alongside our students.

We are again thankful for our parent community, who have supported the school in many ways; from volunteering in the classroom or attending excursions and camps to being part of School Council or the Parents Association. Many of the events run across the year could not happen without the support of our families.

Finally to all our Burwood East students: Thank you for all your dedication and effort throughout the school year. Wishing you and your families lots of fun and relaxation over the upcoming holidays.

Many thanks,

Andrew Den Elzen
