Dance lessons begin ahead of formal

On Monday we started our first formal dance training. We were instructed by the college's Learning Support Leader Leesa Shannon and our dance instructor Xavier Tanner. We learnt ‘The Pride of Erin’ with a partner. The session went for 45 minutes and was really successful. Everybody took part and had an awesome time. There were some great laughs and everyone enjoyed themselves. We look forward to more practices and good times in the coming few weeks before our formal at the start of December.

A message from SOP Leader Sarah

The absolute joy of my week was to see the Year 10 students begin dance practice for the Year 10 formal. The students settled quickly into learning their dance steps, progressing from looks of confusion to smiles and laughter. Our amazing dance instructors, Xavier Tanner and Leesa Shannon, were patient and full of great tips. These practices will continue each Monday until the big night! Students who are not able to participate in the dance are asked to provide a note from their parents explaining the reasons why. The Year 10 formal is a school event and all students are expected to participate. The dances they are learning are traditional dances.

Just a reminder to parents that if your child is not in school uniform they are required to provide a note explaining why and how long it is expected that they will be out of uniform. Your support in assisting your child to meet the expectations of the school uniform policy is greatly appreciated.

The Year 10 Biology class made beaded keyring models last week to show how they understood the structure of DNA. DNA is the key feature of their study this term.
