From the Principal

Benvenuto - Welcome

As we enter into the 5th week of Term 4, we have again been faced with interruptions to our face-to-face learning by circumstances beyond our control. The last couple of weeks have been an enormous test of the resilience of the Greater Shepparton community, with still more challenges to come as those affected by the recent floods begin the long and difficult process of cleaning up. The one thing that has emerged from this event has been the sense of community and support for each other in a time of need. It has really demonstrated the wonderful ability of the people of Greater Shepparton to come together and contribute to the common good of all, one of the Catholic Social Teachings of the church. Caritas Catholic Social Teaching – Common Good

We now have new dates for the final two performances of the college's inaugural production Annie JR. The cast and crew have been working hard to prepare to ensure that these performances match the quality and enthusiasm of the first two nights. The contribution of students and staff in terms of time, energy and support has been enormous and I know very much appreciated by the director, Sean O’Brien. The students eagerly await the announcement of next year’s production at the college.

The building program of stage 2B has been impacted by the shortage and delays in obtaining materials and labour, as has been the case for many building projects across the country. The recent floods have also contributed to a slowing of the progress of works. The building on the east side is very near completion, with the building company working hard to deliver the west side by the end of this year. We look forward to celebrating the wonderful learning opportunities that these new spaces will bring to the students. We will have a formal opening of the buildings in 2023.

Today we celebrate World Teachers' Day, an opportunity for us to thank teachers for all of their dedication to their students. Teaching is a vocation, one which brings great challenge, but also great reward. So thank you to all of the teachers across the country – but particularly the wonderful teachers of St Anne’s College. Please go to the 2022 Staff page in this edition of il giornale for our video dedication to celebrate World Teachers' Day.

We have so much to be thankful for, but in these difficult times, please take care of each other and stay connected. We continue to offer prayers for those people who are in need at this time.
