Rugby Academy

Our Open’s Boys Rugby Union 7’s  represented the school on Wednesday, 11 May at the State finals. They were a fantastic demonstration of our STARR values and can hold their heads high!! They went to the event with only 7 people in a 7 a side tournament.

We played Fountain Gate in the first match narrowly losing to the eventual winners 12-0. In our second game we met The Grange and after a quick start leading 14-0 at half-time, we eventually lost 24-21. In our last pool game we played Hampton Park and the team worked well together holding the opposition scoreless winning 34-0. This meant that we finished 3rd after the pool games and played The Grange in the semi-final. We played this game with 6 players and drew scores after normal time at 19 all. After 2 minutes of extra time and some end to end running The Grange scored the winning try.

All players showed tremendous heart and pride in the Melton Secondary College jumper. They did themselves and the school proud and I couldn’t have been more impressed and proud of their efforts!
