DISTRICT CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS

On Wednesday 4th May, 76 students represented our school at the District Cross Country. For many students this was their first time. Competing against 6 other schools and with up to 70 students in a race, all of our students gave 100% effort and performed to their best. Congratulations and well done to those who competed and thank you to all the parents who came along to support all our students.

Unfortunately, COVID regulations and injury prevented the following students from being able to compete at the District level:

  • 9 Years Boys – Ethan Moore (3/24), Ollie Watson (3/25)
  • 10 Years Girls – Emma Livingston (4/20), Reese Caneva (4/26), Cherry Butler (4/26)

A reminder to parents and students, only students who are competing at the Divisional level should still have the school tops. It would be appreciated if the tops could be washed and returned to the PE department as soon as possible.

SCHOOL SPORT VICTORIA STATE REPRESENTATIVE TRIALS

We have some Year 5 and 6 students who are currently trying out for the School Sport Victoria State teams.

Year 5 students, Hamish Campbell (5/11) and Mitchell Smith (5/10) participated at the Divisional Basketball trials on Monday 2nd May. Both students played extremely well, but being selected for the next level is not easy. Hamish has now progressed through to the next level.

Ashton Harrison (6/7), Cooper Watson (6/7) and Oscar Singleton (6/7) participated in the Divisional Football trials on Wednesday 4th May. All three students have successfully progressed to the next level.

Please congratulate these students.

We also have Bridie Campbell (6/7) and Olivia Burridge (6/7) trialling for Basketball and Jazz Lyngbye Pavelic (6/8) and Cristian Pascasu (5/10) trialling for Soccer late this term. We wish them all the best.

WALK TO SCHOOL DAY - FRIDAY 20TH MAY

Walk Safely to School Day (WSTSD) is an annual, national event when all Primary School children will be encouraged to walk and commute safely to school. It is a Community Event seeking to promote Road Safety, Health, Public Transport and the Environment.

The objectives of WSTSD are:

  • To encourage parents and carers to walk to school with primary school age children and reinforce safe pedestrian behaviour.
  • To promote the health benefits of walking and help create regular walking habits at an early age.
  • To ensure that children up to 10 years old hold an adult's hand when crossing the road.
  • To help children develop the vital road-crossing skills they will need as they become mature pedestrians.
  • To reduce the car dependency habits that are being created at an early age and which will be difficult to change as children become adults.
  • To promote the use of Public Transport.
  • To reduce the level of air pollution created by motor vehicles.
  • To reduce the level of traffic congestion.

So, why not get up half an hour earlier, enjoy the free air and participate in the Walk Safely to School Day.
