Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

PUPIL FREE DAY.

Our school has its Term 2 Pupil Free day on FRIDAY, 3 June, no students attend this day. Staff will be undertaking professional learning across a range of areas on this day. The following Monday, 6 June, is a public holiday, Western Australia Day.

PLANNER CHANGE.

Please make an amendment to the term planner. The WINTER SPORTS CARNIVAL is now scheduled for Friday, 24 June not Friday, 10 June. The carnival will involve senior students competing against local schools in Soccer, Football and Netball.

EXCURSION.

On Wednesday, 8 June, Year 5 students and members of the ‘Your Move’ travel team will head to the Constable Care Road Safety Centre in Maylands for an excursion. The excursion involves road awareness using a specially constructed set of roadways, incorporating footpaths and signage. Part of the time will be spent riding bikes on these roads. Funding for this excursion came from ‘points’ the school had built up writing articles, on our Transport initiatives like the Cycle to School program.

RECENT ASSEMBLY.

Congratulations to Room 1 and Ms Reid on the presentation of our first assembly for the year. Well done to the students who received an Honour certificate. Congratulations also to the following students who received an Aussie of the Month certificate and badge for their special efforts around the school. FLAG MONITORS 2021/2022. [ John, Kai, Blue, Flynn, Fletcher, Tyler, Jake, Nate, Emmy, Heidi and Myla.] TECHNOLOGY MONITORS IN THE SENIOR BLOCK. [Sasha, Zavier and Kai N.]

SCHOOL BOARD.

Our thanks to the School Board Members, many of whom are new to the role, on their efforts and enthusiasm in our first three meetings. Our members for 2022:

The Board meets twice a term and this year we will be looking at amongst other things the development of our new Business Plan and conducting the two-yearly School Survey.

SCHOOL PHOTOS.

Thank you for your support with the school photos last Friday.

We will have a catch-up day for students who were away and have paid. Midland Photographers will contact us regarding a date.

SCHOOL DISCO.

The Year Six committee is putting together a brilliant Disco for Friday, 17 June, at Sullivan Hall. From 3:30pm-5:30pm, the P-3 will have the dance floor and from 5:30pm-7:30pm it will be the turn of the year 4-6 students.

P&C BUSY BEE.

On Saturday, 11 June there will be a Busy Bee at the school between 2:00pm-4:00pm. Parents are most welcome to come along and assist with tidying up various garden areas.

PLAYGROUND OPENING.

We are hoping to have an opening for our Playground extension on THURSDAY, 9 June.

It will be held at 2:45pm weather permitting on the oval. Simone McGurk, our State representative will be in attendance. There will be an icy pole for the students and a cake cutting to commemorate the event.

It is also an opportunity to acknowledge the work of the P&C as well as the Fundraising team that came together for the 120th Anniversary fete, and raised so much money for school projects like the Nature Playground.

COVID UPDATE.

Thank you to staff for their flexibility over the last two weeks with the number of students and staff who have been off with COVID. We hope everyone who is away and those who have returned have a speedy recovery.
