Year 6 Ladies rock the Rocks!

Well, just over a week after our inaugural Year 6 Ladies’ Day, will The Rocks ever be the same?

Over 35 Year 6 ladies put their hands up to have Sunday afternoon off and head to The Rocks for a relaxing day of exploring and shopping.

Old boy Stephen Whelan ('93) helped organise the event in his capacity as owner’s representative of The Mercantile Hotel. Smack bang in the middle of The Rocks Markets, The Mercantile Hotel was the perfect spot, with a dedicated room where they set up their base camp. Fed and watered, our ladies set out on their ‘Rocks and Markets’ adventure, returning to base camp throughout the day and into the evening to re-hydrate. With no expense spared, the organisers of this event even threw in a lighting spectacular – VIVID!

Back at the hotel, the ladies were treated to more fun and an enjoyable vibe, live music to sing along with and dance to, which was also coupled with the traditional warm Irish hospitality that is on show every weekend at The Mercantile.

We have heard varying reports of our intrepid explorers’ adventures as the trail blazers for this inaugural event – with almost enough material to make a full-length movie! You needed to have been there to experience the adventure. Once we have more feedback, we will consider forming a Ladies’ Day touring group for each cohort for the remainder of the year.

Another successful Supporters’ Day was had last Saturday. A very big thank you to everyone involved in the preparation and running of the event. 

This week, I would like to make special mention of the students who volunteered their time on either Friday afternoon or Saturday morning to help with the set-up of our barbeques. These boys showed true SPC spirit through their initiative and hard work.

Our next Supporters’ Day will be held on Saturday 30 July for students in Years 10 and 11!
