Years 7 to 10 Parent/Teacher Interviews and Student Academic Reports

By the end of next week, the Semester 1 Reports on students of Years 7 to 10 will be available online to parents/carers via the TASS Parent Lounge.

The Years 7 and 9 Parent/Teacher Interviews will be scheduled for the afternoon and evening of Monday 20 June from 2:05 PM to 9:00 PM. Similarly, the Years 8 and 10 Parent/Teacher Interviews will be scheduled for the afternoon and evening of Tuesday 21 June from 2:05 PM to 9:00 PM. Parents/carers may book interview time slots themselves via the TASS Parent Lounge using the interview tab from 7:00 AM, Thursday 9 June. The College will not be allocating interview times. Parents/carers need to ensure interviews are booked by no later than 11:59 PM, Sunday 19 June for Years 7 and 9 Parent/Teacher Interviews and no later than 11:59 PM on Monday 20 June for the Years 8 and 10 Parent/Teacher Interviews.

All interviews will be conducted on site in the College Gymnasium. Interviews are for five minutes only. There is a two-minute break between each interview to allow the interviews to run smoothly. Please note that parents/carers cannot double book a teacher for a longer interview. Should more interview time be required, parents/carers may arrange with the teacher another mutually suitable time.

There is an expectation that parents/carers will book interviews with all of their sons’ teachers. There is also an expectation that students are present for the interviews.

For parents/carers encountering difficulties logging on to the TASS Parent Lounge, please contact the College’s IT Department via College Reception on 02 9763 1000.

If for any reason a parent/carer needs to cancel or change a booked interview time after the closing times stated above, then please contact the relevant teacher via email.

The Semester 1 Report is an opportunity for parents/carers to discuss their sons’ progress but more importantly to discuss strategies and recommendations for improvement in Semester 2.

Year 9 PDHPE Social Dance

On Monday evening, 30 May, the entirety of Year 9 took part in a social dance with students from St Scholastica’s, Glebe, in our College gymnasium. Over the course of this term, both sets of schools have been learning a variety of dances in PDHPE lessons as part of the curriculum. On a night which many agreed was full of nerves, the dance started with a great sense of nervousness from both the boys and girls. However, as the night progressed, the students quickly settled in, displaying many of the dancing skills learnt in class over the last few weeks. Over the course of the night, we partook in a variety of ‘barn’ dances, ranging from the ‘Heel and Toe’ to much more exotic variants such as the ‘Salsa’ and ‘Cha Cha’.

Forming a line across the whole gym, our dance partners from St Scholastica’s moved quickly from person to person, keeping the entire night exciting and fast paced with few breaks in between. One of the notable highlights of the night was the competition between both schools to see who could perform the best ‘Nutbush’- an individual dance which requires fast movements and quick thinking. Ultimately, SPC came out victorious.

Overall, the dance was a great experience which I know will be remembered by all those who took part. On behalf of Year 9, I would like to sincerely thank Mr Sinadinos and the PDHPE teaching staff, Joan Carmody Dance Academy, and the ladies from St Scholastica’s Glebe for making the night possible and memorable for us all.
