Year 1 Update

Upcoming Learning

During the next fortnight, students will be undertaking learning in following areas:

Reading	Investigating vocabulary and using our letter knowledge to decode unfamiliar words. Showing our understanding of fairy tales by sequencing, answering comprehension questions and describing character traits.
Writing	We are learning about procedural texts. We are following a procedure step by step, then writing our own procedural texts.
Maths	We are focusing on addition. We are exploring different addition strategies- counting on, doubles, friends of 10 and the part/part whole strategy.
Science	We are continuing our unit on chemical science and experimenting with we can change the states of materials. We are experimenting with spaghetti and making play dough!
Inquiry	We are continuing our unit on community. We have a Safety Squad incursion and an Ambulance incursion.
Social & emotional learning	We are focusing on emotional regulation and how to work in partnerships.

News and Reminders

-Please remember to bring your reading satchel everyday including your reading log and sight words book.

-The school day begins at 8:50am. Students later than this time need to go to the office to get a late pass before coming to the classroom.
