Years 11 & 12
This week, we will publish the examination schedule for students in Years 10. While our students often feel a little daunted by the prospect of examinations, we encourage students to view them as an opportunity. Exam situations give students an invaluable learning experience; an opportunity to review their learning and demonstrate their progress. Furthermore, the process of sitting an examination assists students to familiarize themselves with the routine in readiness for VCE external exams.
Staff are working with students to ensure that they feel prepared for the challenge of exams. Please do encourage your daughters to speak with their teachers should they feel they need more support.
While Year 12 students do not complete formal exams mid semester, we are introducing a new initiative at the end of semester.
An important element in VCE success is the capacity to effectively retrieve knowledge and apply skills that span work covered across the entire year.
In an effort to help our students better prepare for the rigors of exams, we will be instituting a summative in class assessment task that will challenge students to show what they have learned throughout Semester 1. This is an informal process and it does not contribute to a student’s overall VCE results. However, we hope students see the value in practising demonstrating their knowledge and skills developed from Semester 1 and reflecting on what further preparation is required for the end of year exams.
