PERFORMING ARTS

VCE Drama

Last week our Year 11s and 12s, presented their  VCE Drama performances. The performance pieces were crafted entirely by our students, focusing on the theme of ‘Feminism’.  Both performances were powerful, demonstrating the creative skill and vision of our students – we were in awe of their work.  Credit to Ms Olivia Hamilton for her work with these students to realise such moving pieces of theatre.

Mothers' Day Mass

The Academy Choir, AMICCI and VCE Year 12 musicians provided the music at the annual Mothers’ Day Mass in the Ursula Frayne Chapel.

The Choir, conducted by Ms Slocombe, sang with great energy and enthusiasm from the loft area in the Chapel. The sound soared, filling every aspect of the space. This Mass was a lovely celebration for Mothers’ Day but also celebrated the wonderful musicians at the Academy.

The Year 12 VCE Unit 3/4 students excelled in their craft, Maddy Palmer, playing bagpipes to the opening hymn really set the scene for a festive occasion. Jasmine Sheridan and Claudia O’Neill were strong cantors, Claudia Cover sang the reflection as a soloist and Harper Owen not only played trumpet for the Offertory, but also used her photography skills to capture photos of the musicians.
