Head of Junior School

Term 1 Week 4

To me there are many things that make every day so special at Calrossy. One of the most special things is seeing a new student progress from nervous, shy, worried or timid to joyful, excited, happy and confident in the new surroundings. Over the last three weeks I have witnessed this in many ways and across all ages. I am certain it is because of the Kindness our students show to each other and in particular to new students. We welcome new students to Calrossy all throughout the year and it is this same joyful transformation that occurs.

In the Junior School this term, we will focus on our three school expectations: Be Kind, Be Safe and Be Respectful. These three things are the way we need to conduct ourselves in all situations and at all times at school. This fortnight we will focus on Kindness, based on the verse from the bible in Ephesians 4:32  Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. We have the exceptional example of kindness and forgiveness in Christ Jesus, and this is who we should be looking to as a role-model and guide.

In a world where you can choose to be anything, choose kindness.

The Swimming Carnival was an outstanding display of house spirit and comradery, and the children gave their absolute best. It was great to see our competitive swimmers excelling and many students having a go. Congratulations to Nicholls who were the overall winners.

  1. Nicholls

Today I introduced a new feature of our House System, which will be an on-going house point tally. All through the week teachers can give house points as they see fit and each week the House Captains will announce the house in the lead. This competition will carry on throughout the whole year.
