Principal's News

Welcome Back

Welcome back, everyone to 2022. We have new children in prep but also other grades. The children are settling in very well, and we look forward to a year of schooling on site. If any parents, especially our new ones, have any concerns or questions, please don't hesitate to contact your child's teacher.

We welcome back Pauline Moran, our Learning and Teaching and Religious Education Leader. Pauline left Holy Family four years ago, and her experience and knowledge will greatly benefit the staff and children.

COVID

We have just received our new assignment of RAT tests. These will be sent home at the start of next week. They will last until the end of February. Some parents have told us that the test is traumatising their children. Please let me know if giving the test is causing problems at home, and we will find a solution.

CHALLENGING LEARNING

The staff will be continuing their professional learning with Challenging Learning. We started this around covid, so our learning has been interrupted with all the shutdowns. We will have two pupil free days this term for Challenging Learning. The first day on Friday 25th February will recap what we started during 2020 and 2021. We will then focus on dialogue. It is about everyone experiencing deliberate opportunities for planned dialogue that encourages cooperation and leads to independent and resilient learners. Everyone can explain, where are we going? Where are we now? What is the next step?

The second day is on Friday the 25th March is about feedback. Staff will look at planning for and delivering feedback to the children. Feedback is a learning opportunity. Also, we will be looking at feedback with colleagues and feedback between children and children, giving feedback around their learning to staff.

Pupil free days: Friday 25th February and Friday 25th March.

On both days, we will be able to care for the children of parents who are both working.

OUR PATCH

Our before and after school care is up and running. The children will be meeting the Our Patch teacher next week when she visits their classroom to tell the children about the program and what it has to offer them.

CAMP

School camp for the senior children is the first week of term 2. That week on Monday is ANZAC Day, so it is a four day school week. Camp preparation for camp will be completed in Term 1, including our camp meeting and the signing of forms.

CONCRETE

You may have noticed that the bitumen surface in front of the big bin by the gate is breaking up. We need to extend the concrete area in front of the bin. I have been trying to get quotes from concrete contractors to get this work done, but I am not successful. Does anybody know a concreting contractor who may be able to help us with this? Please give their details to me or at the office if you do.
