WELCOME TO OUR NEW SCHOOL NURSE
My name is Antoinette Tippett and I have started as the new Secondary School Nurse at Red Cliffs Secondary College following the retirement of the wonderful Mrs. Julia Lohmeyer, who was the previous school nurse. As the Secondary School Nurse, my role to support you to be healthy, happy and safe at school.
The Secondary School Nursing Program (SSNP) is:
- A confidential health advice and referral service run by the Department of Education for all Secondary School students. School Nurses can assist with general health concerns, sexual health, mental health, stress management and alcohol and other drugs.
- Information discussed between the nurse and student is kept confidential unless permission is sought from the student to share relevant information with others.
- Secondary School Nurses play a role in delivering whole school Health Promotion activities.
- Provide curriculum and teaching support in subjects such as Health and Physical Education.
- Students can self-refer or may be referred by school staff or parents with the student’s consent.
- The School Nurse we will support you to be happy and safe at school. School Nurses are mandated to report any concerns to the relevant agencies if needed.
- My working days are Tuesdays and Fridays in the Wellbeing Building. Students seeking appointments are encouraged to come over at recess or lunch time to arrange an appointment.
