FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Mr. David Browne

Welcome to Red Cliffs Secondary College in 2022

We have had a relatively smooth start to the school year, and it is wonderful to actually have all year levels on site, in class and learning all at the same time.  The roller-coaster ride which is life in pandemic continues, but with a whole new rule book and a different outlook.  This will take a bit of getting used to for all, but we have had a good start.  A special welcome to all of our year 7's, and any new students in other year levels.

If you have not collected a RAT Kit from the school for each of your children, please contact the school and collect it as soon as possible.  Regular self testing is the best way to minimise the possibility of bringing Covid into school.

Mask wearing is compulsory when indoors, except with lawful exemption.  We need to have a note from home outlining the lawful exemption, so that we can add this to our records.  Those who brought a note last year - you don't have to provide another one. Students need to bring masks from home and wear them please.  We need your support.

If there is a positive case at school, I will inform you via email and Compass notification.

Welcome to our new staff

We have a number of new staff members joining us this year.  Over coming weeks we will introduce them in our newsletter so that you can get to know them better, but for the moment:

  • Jake Anders.  Health and Physical Education, and also Year 7 Level Co-ordinator
  • Ben Cookney.  Health and Physical Education
  • Ziang Gao.  Mathematics
  • Jenny Gilbert.  English and English as an Additional Language Co-ordinator
  • Danni Jones.  Cafeteria
  • Darren Le Gassick.  Visual Communications and Digital Media Design

  • David Purcell.  Science and Year 10 Level Co-ordinator

  • Matthew White.  Teacher of the new LENS program

I will provide more information about LENS next week.

Events

We are hoping to have things running as smoothly as we possibly can this year, including all of the events we associate with school.  This starts with the swimming sports this week, followed by a three day year 7 camp the week after.

Permission for events must be given by the due date.  The school will not be accepting late permission notes for any events or activities.  Success is our focus this term in all aspects of school, and a key part of achieving success is being prepared and organised.  We thank you in advance for supporting this.
