John XXIII Rowing Club

Welcome back

Welcome back all rowers and families to what will be an exciting and fulfilling season in our John XXIII Rowing Program.

Over the summer there has been a lot of work happening to ensure that our program is ready to kick off with a bang. We welcome a number of new coaches.  Ms Elinor Scott joins our team as our Senior Coach. Elinor is a current State rower who has extensive Rowing and Coaching experience at both PLC and Scotch College.  Mr Tyler Clement joins our team in our Boat Shed Management role who also brings a wealth of experience with rowing, coaching and experience from Trinity College, West Swans Rowing Club and Wesley College.

Lastly we welcome our new junior coaches and existing coaches to our 2022 season.

Training is in full swing for our first Regatta at the end of March and we are wishing all involved a fantastic lead up to this event.

Important notes for rowers and families

Our wonderful Merchandise team have been hard at work and it gives me great pleasure to announce that the Rowing Rugby Jersey’s have made their way to the uniform shop. Should you wish to purchase, please visit our College Uniform shop.  These may sell out fast, so be quick!

We are excited to confirm both male and female camps to run during the first week of the April school holidays. This years’ camps will provide students with many opportunities to build team cohesion, gain a greater understanding behind what it takes to be a successful athlete and engage in a vigorous rowing and strength and conditioning intensive program.

  • Male Camp Dates: 11 & 12 April 2022
  • Female Camp Dates: 12 & 13 April 2022

All Rowers must return their hats for 2022 embroidery no later than Friday, 18 February. A collection box has been placed in the PE office. Please hand your hat to a member of the PE team. Your hats will be returned before our first Regatta.

Please note – Saturday trainings will resume this year for all Senior students and Year 10 Boys. This is due to coach availability. The continuation of the Saturday sessions will depend on attendance and be reassessed at the start of March.  Saturday training sessions are 6:00am – 8:30 am. Students must make their own way there.
