Courses where actual ATAR cut off scores were 10 or more higher than estimated.

Getting the ATAR score estimated by the university does not guarantee you an offer.

Each year universities estimate ATAR scores which they think students will need.

When the Tertiary Information Service Centre collates the ATAR results, it matches students with places from top ATAR scores down until all places are gone. The cut off score is the Actual ATAR.

This table identifies courses with an ATAR cut-off rate 10 or more above the minimum indicative rank

Getting into Medicine in WA

There is good reason to believe medical students are outstanding. This year there were one hundred successful applicants for medicine at Curtin from 2700 applicants.

If you want to apply for medicine:

  • Take chemistry: Chemistry is a pre-requisite subject for medicine at most universities across Australia.
  • Rural and remote applicants: The Medicine Faculty at Curtin is keen to address the shortage of doctors in the bush in WA. Contact Associate Professor Keith McNaught

Rural Academic Lead, Curtin Medical School at Keith.Mcnaught@curtin.edu.au

ECU The Portsmouth-Perth Partnership

ECU and the University of Portsmouth have joined together to offer students the opportunity to complete dual degrees by studying at both universities.

How it works

As a student, you can graduate with two separate degrees by enrolling at your home institution for two years of the degree program and then undertaking one year of exchange study at the partner institution. You would then return home to Australia to complete the final semester/year units of the degree at your home institution.

Choosing Your Subject Mix at Uni

I have had students tell me that they want to go to University X “because you can design your own degree”.

All West Australian universities have flexibility built into their degrees.

You can negotiate what subjects (units) your degree will include with an expert in the faculty.

The subjects that are included in your degree can include ones that are done overseas.

All West Australian universities have partnerships with universities around the world. Through these partnerships, you can find interesting specialist subjects to study. Some of these subjects can be paid for through a scholarship.

CQU closes its base in WA

After a quiet beginning in an office block at the bottom of William St in the city, and in several rural, regional and remote locations, Central Queensland University is about to close in WA.

The Perth campus will enter a transition period over the next two years and close at the end of 2023. This means there will be no future intakes for courses on-campus in Perth.Students who are currently studying with CQUniversity will have their course taught out on the Perth campus allowing them to continue to achieve their career goals.

CQUniversity has significant success with providing university education to rural, regional and remote students. That support will continue online.
