Wind Band, Concert Band and Swing Band Auditions

Auditions for the College’s Secondary bands will take place this Monday and Thursday in the Performing Arts Centre, Band Room. Bands include students taking lessons on flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, French horn, trumpet, trombone, tuba, euphonium and percussion. Sign-up sheets for auditions are located in the hallway outside the Music Office in the Performing Arts Centre, and students should be prepared to play a section of a recently learned piece to audition. Chamber Orchestra Auditions

Auditions for Chamber Orchestra will take place this Wednesday, from 7:00am in the Osborne Room. Chamber Orchestra is open to all secondary students who learn violin, viola, cello and double bass. Sign-up sheets for auditions are located in the hallway outside the Music Office in the Performing Arts Centre, and an excerpt to be performed is available in the Music Office. All students should attempt this excerpt as their audition piece. Please contact the Music Office with any queries.

Treble Choir Auditions

Treble Choir is back for 2022! All students in Years 7 – 9 who love to sing are encouraged to audition for Treble Choir, which will be held in the Gonzaga Barry Lecture Theatre from 3:15 – 5:00pm, this Wednesday. There is no sign-up for the auditions, and students should come to the lecture theatre ready to sing a verse or chorus of any song, in a simple audition conducted in pairs. Chapel Choir

All students in the College are invited to join the Chapel Choir. Chapel Choir rehearses at 7:30am on Friday morning in the Chapel, and then leads the singing in Community Mass from 8:00am. No auditions are required – interested students are welcome to arrive this Friday in time for rehearsal! Secondary students in Chapel Choir accrue Roncalli Service hours, in recognition of the contribution to mass. Music and Drama Calendar

The College’s Music and Drama Calendar provides a guide to all the various Performing Arts events across the College year. Students enrolling in Music ensembles or Drama classes will receive a list of performances involving those groups, with dates and expectations to attend. This document is also available on the College Website and SEQTA Documents. Please contact the Music Office with any queries.

Music Performance Uniforms

All of the College’s Secondary Music Ensembles perform throughout the year in a unique Performance Uniform. This specialty item requires fitting and ordering through the Uniform Shop, and new students to ensembles must try on a uniform by next Thursday 10 February. Students with an existing uniform are encouraged to ensure the size is appropriate and order an alternative size if required. The Uniform Shop is open from 8:00am – 12:00pm every weekday and a special fitting session will be held in the Performing Arts Centre from 8:00am on Thursday morning.
