Anchorage House News

We are excited to welcome ten new boarders and their families into Anchorage House this year. Our House Leaders, Austin Brown and Henry Smith were on hand to assist our new boys with their transition into boarding. Austin and Henry are to be commended for their warmth and openness on what is a big day for new boarders and their families. Once the new boarders had unpacked, they explored the grounds and participated in activities to get to know one another. It was lovely to see families chatting together at our welcome afternoon tea.

Each new boarder has a peer support buddy from Anchorage to show them how the House operates and familiarise them with the routines and procedures of the House.  Their buddy is able to support them to positively navigate school and boarding life. Already we can see a sense of connectedness and care developing amongst the boys. It has been wonderful to see boys involving others in activities and reaching out to those who may be having a tough day. They are working together on the skills and attitudes necessary to positively interact with others and maintain friendships.

Our first birthday to celebrate this year is Zane Cairns who turned 13 earlier this month. Lucas Smart will also celebrate his 13th birthday this weekend. Congratulations Zane and Lucas.
