Principal's Message

Dear Parents and Carers

Congratulations to Arielia D (5J) who last Sunday attended the final of the Christmas Story Art Exhibition and Competition in the Archdiocese of Sydney. In our newsletter this week, Ari shares with us her beautiful artwork and writing.

My Pathway

Arielia D

Year Five

My artwork was inspired by the scripture, ‘Prepare the Way’ by Isaiah and how you can’t jump right into Christmas. You have to prepare a pathway not only for God but for yourself by clearing away all the jealousy, guilt, hatred and anger in your heart.

I drew a sunrise representing a new beginning at the start of each day. The warm and cool colours in the sky represent the conflicting choices we have to face. The long path made of hair is the pathway that this person has made in her heart. She has made a path to a new beginning which she will be able to take in preparation for Christ.

I used soft pastels and pencils for my artwork to show the soft calm landscape in the background. The pink on the face represents embarrassment and sadness but it slowly fades into calm side of the face which shows her change into a forgiving side.

To me this scripture means clearing your heart to get ready for the birth of Jesus. I have had to to take this path many times before when I needed to say sorry to God and show Him that I can be better.

For all things at St Joseph’s, give thanks!
