From the Principal...

Dear Parents and Friends,

It was certainly a wintery weekend! I hope that you have all been keeping warm and safe at home.

It seems that Remote Learning is beginning to become a little more normal now and I am very proud of the excellent attendance we have seen with most children logging into their remote classrooms each morning.

The feedback that we have received from students and parents has been overwhelmingly positive and this is due to the hard work of our dedicated teachers and support staff. However, we look forward to when our school can completely reopen so we can all be together again!

A new On-Site Intentions form has been sent out today asking parents to let us know if they require on-site learning for their children.

The LINK IS HERE

The following three reasons for on-site learning remain. Please complete the form by Thursday 7th May at 5pm.

They are;

1. If your child is unable to learn from home

2. If you cannot supervise your child at home

3. If your child is classified as vulnerable

Thank you for your cooperation. We use this form to ensure that we have enough staff to supervise the children who do require on-site learning.

Thanks to the Romeril family for sending in their photos of their children's remote learning.

Please enjoy the photos from Neha in 3F's remote learning too.

Keep up the great work everyone!

If you would like to share your remote learning photos with us for the newsletter, please remember to email them. They are great to share!

A Remote Mother's Day for 2020

Usually this week, we would have organised a Mother's Day Stall and an assembly for the children to present just how much they love their mums.

Unfortunately, this is not to be the case this year!

Due to the COVID-19 restrictions we will need to celebrate Mother's Day with you remotely.

On Friday, I will share the secret project that the staff and students of St Therese's have been creating for all the mums.

While I know it won't be the same, I am sure you will enjoy the project we have all been working on in secret! More to come...

Cyber-Safety Online Workshop - Thursday 14th May 8:00pm - 9:30pm

With our children now being given more time online, it is now even more important to understand how we can keep them safe in a digital world.

CEOSale has created an opportunity for schools to provide parents to participate in an exclusive webinar 'Cyber Safety: Parenting in a Digital World' on Thursday 14th May from 8:00pm - 9:30pm.

The webinar is through Inform and Empower, who is a trusted eSafety provider and approved through the eSafety Commissioner. The webinar is co-presented by Carley McGauran (psychologist) and Martin McGauran (primary school teacher) from Inform and Empower.

The webinar focuses on cyber issues including managing devices in the home, keeping safe online, unsafe apps, and social media. If you are unable to attend the webinar a recording of the event will be made available.

Details of how to attend the webinar are included in the flyer attached. I urge all parents to consider taking part in this event. I will certainly be there!

National Consistent Collection of Data (NCCD)

Each year, schools are required to submit data on students with disabilities to the government.

It counts the number of students who receive additional adjustments or ‘help’ at school because of a disability. The NCCD helps governments plan for the needs of students with disabilities.

Consent is not required for this data to be collected.

The following link contains a fact sheet for parents regarding NCCD and the process involved in collecting the data. The information has also been included in four languages (Arabic, Simple Chinese, Vietnamese and Tagalog)

Please check out the 'Remote' Community News page for great learning from accross our school!

Have a happy week,

Michelle Bruitzman
