Campus Stories

There's a Chair in There

There's a group of committed students in the Year 11 Furnishings class, who are meeting after school hours to get through some projects they have underway.

Mr Taylor has opened up the workshop to allow these craftsmen and women the opportunity to progress on the chairs they have designed and are now manufacturing.

The workmanship is fabulous - well done, students!

Not-so-Bored Games

Mr Tully's Year 10 students have been studying economic principles, and one of the more creative ways to embed learning was in asking the students to produce board games that demonstrated some of the concepts.

Mr Tully has been pretty impressed with the submissions - and there's hours of fun ahead for students as they challenge each other on in their newly crafted games.  Well done, Year 10s!

Learning Spaces

Mrs Hemmings has been seen doing a happy dance. She advised last week that the current mix of online work for those learning at home, and the continuing in-school work for those students still on campus, is delivering academic outcomes in this season.

On Tuesday of last week, students who are already at home were able to share with each other an image of their new work spaces. Mrs Hemmings trialled the use of Google Classroom and requested that students send in a photo of their learning station. She's pleased to report that the communication lines are working well.

Thank you to our teaching staff who are working really hard to make this transition as smooth as they possibly can. Well done to parents and students who are navigating this complicated season in life with patience and understanding. We are proud of every one of you.

NB - Your work stations look great!

Home and Away Learning

Learning is still well and truly unfolding at Cornerstone. The Year 5 class have been demonstrating that whether you are at school, or learning from home, some great outcomes can happen, even in in the midst of a global crisis.

The students were proudly displaying their Science Space Object presentations. Some have been submitted through Google Drive and others have been delivered in person. There's been some creative work unfolding and displayed - and Mr Meyerink is pretty thrilled with what he is seeing.

Well done Year 5s. You are doing amazingly well!

In Publication

In 2019, a team of our teachers at the College were asked to contribute to a research project and a publication by the Association of Independent Schools of WA (AISWA).

The book has now been printed, and it's lovely to see some very familiar names and faces in hard copy.

Congratulations to Miss Haythornthwaite, Mrs Reid and Mrs Clark for their successful contribution in the book. We are proud of you all!

Library Crafts

Mrs Mapstone is a bit of a genius in how she enlists and enthusiastically partners with students to come up with some really engaging activities in the library.

With the help of some students, the Easter display has come up a treat.

Well done everyone!

Easter Reflection

For decades (and we really do mean decades), Mrs Cameron was a bedrock of the Early Learning Program at Cornerstone.  She left a huge impression on so many students and families over so many years.

Another memorable element to the College is the Easter Play that the students in Pre-School have annually performed, which helps embed some truths from the Easter Story.

Mentioning these two icons of the College is quite special - and especially meaningful when this picture came to light in recent days.

Mrs Cameron, for years, played the part of the donkey - and this photograph shows the current Year 12 class when they were back there.   You may recognise a face or two from the Jewish crowd below!

Happy Easter everyone!
