Swiss Tradition to Keep the Kids Busy this Easter
Want a simple activity that has great results?
In Switzerland, children colour eggs as an Easter Tradition. Our Year 1 class tried it last week and they loved the project. It's something you can easily replicate at home.
How do you do it yourself?
1. Find plants with small leaves.
2. Place the leaves or flowers on the eggs, and tie stockings around the eggs to hold them in place.
3. Cook the eggs in water that contains heaps of brown onion peel. The brown onion stains the egg shells - except in the places where the leaves cover the shell.
4. Unwrap the eggs from the stockings, remove the leaves ... and enjoy gazing at some lovely works-of-art.
NB - The eggs are still fully edible!
