Principal's Report

Principal's Report

“ANZAC is not merely about loss. It is about courage, and endurance, and duty, and love of country, and mateship, and good humour and the survival of a sense of self-worth and decency in the face of dreadful odds."

Sir William Deane, Governor-General of Australia on Anzac Day 1999

We held our ANZAC Commemoration and Leaders Induction Assembly this morning.  Our guest speaker was Grant Coultman Smith OAM, who spoke about the true spirit of ANZACs and what it means to be a hero.  This ANZAC spirit is part of our Australian national identity and needs to be preserved.  It is the courage of ANZACs and the legacy of their bravery that we must maintain in order to triumph over fear and intolerance that is invading our world today.

School Review

As a new school, we will undertake our first school review in Term 3 this year.  These reviews occur every 4 years and inform and set the strategic direction of the school with the next School Strategic Plan.  This term we will begin with a Pre-Review Self Evaluation that will involve staff, students and parents.

‘If we want whole systems to succeed with every child – which is indeed the challenge of the 21st century – then we need collective capacity: and collective capacity involves teachers in each school

and between schools engaging in serious conversation of what good teaching looks like and how it is achieved. For that conversation to be successful, evidence is required; and if evidence is to

go beyond the anecdotal, then good data are essential.’

We will have the timeline and opportunities to be involved in our next newsletter.

Lunchtime Clubs and Activities

We are providing a range of clubs and activities for students to participate in during lunch.  It is an opportunity to come together with other like minded students that have a strength, passion or interest in a particular area.  We would like parents to encourage their children to join in where they have an interest.
