Principal's News

Dear Families,
I hope everyone enjoyed a restful long weekend and some extra family time. We are very quickly approaching the end of term with the remaining weeks of Term 1 being extremely busy. Classes are continuing to explore ....and all classes are eager to share their learning with you at the Learning Expo on Tuesday 24th
As we continue on in our Lenten journey, our pattern of school prayer has been established and is being supported throughout our grades. Ignatian Examen is happening in each grade on Friday afternoons, while Meditation across the school is held Monday - Thursday at 2.20pm.
Artist in Residence
Next week will see our students participate in an artist-in-residence program with Leonie Harris of Western Creation who will work with our school community to create a series of original murals co-designed by the students and based on symbols traditionally found in Aboriginal visual arts. Our Students will have a session next Monday of ‘Indigenous Storytelling through Art’ to learn the symbols and how they combine to tell a visual story which they will use to each create an original drawing.
Guided by Leonie, each level will develop a design and choose a space for their mural. At the end of the week, the whole school will have a celebratory presentation of the finished artwork.
Ride 2 School Day
Again this year we will participate in the National Ride2School Day. Tomorrow will see our community join for a fun morning of riding or scooting or walking to school.
Leave the car at home, or perhaps park a couple of blocks away from school and walk.
Gates open at 8.15am.
Open Day
There will be an Open Day on Wednesday 18th March - all day and again on 25th March (from 5pm -7pm by appointment).
We have already accepted many enrolments for 2021 so if your child will begin Prep next year we encourage you to return an enrolment form asap.
Teaching SPRINTS
As we have previously reported our teaching staff have been involved in Teaching Sprints. This is an initiative we entered in 2018 to improve our student learning. Teachers work collaboraively in teams to improve their teaching practice. This teacher improvement work is undertaken through a 'Sprint' 1-2 times per term. Teachers use and analyse student data and enter a 'Teaching Sprint' which involves working on one specific area of learning. During this process, teachers engage with evidence informed research to improve their practice.
Our Literacy Leader Annabelle Marinelli has been leading this process so effectively that we have been invited to present our work at the National Teaching Sprints Summit in Sydney in late March. This is a huge honour for our school to be represented on a national stage and a credit to Annabelle and our staff who have embraced this challenge in working with evidence based research to inform and improve their teaching practice.
Learning Expo
The student will display their learning in Inquiry at our Learning Expo next Tuesday morning 24th March beginning at 9am.
Multicultural Family Night
A reminder the Multicultural Family night will be held next Thursday 19th March. This night is traditionally one of our most popular at Trinity, where families have the opportunity to share food from different cultures, socialise and get to know each other better. It is always great fun, and begins at 6pm.
Please note that if you can provide a list of ingredients with what you bring to share, it will assist those with allergies. Our most common allergy at Trinity is nuts, so if possible please do not bring dishes with nuts as they pose a threat to many of our students.
Coronavirus
Please refer to the Department of Education and Training (DET) coronavirus webpage for further advice and information. The Catholic Education Commission of Victoria will continue to review health and travel advice in collaboration with the DET and health authorities as the situation evolves. If there are any updates or important information will let you know via our Skoolbag App and/or letter. Also find attached information in regard to reducing your risk of Coronavirus.
