Feature News  - Visual Arts

Selamat Siang Semuanya,

In Visual Arts we have been exploring the colour wheel. Junior students have been focusing on Primary and Secondary Colours, whilst Senior students are beginning to blend Primary and Secondary Colours to create Tertiary Colours.

To welcome the new season, 5/6 students began creating their own Autumn Tree Art. They have worked diligently to draft their pieces and began adding warm and cool secondary and tertiary colours using water colour paint and pastel. We are all very excited to see their beautiful artwork once complete!

3/4 students have been exploring warm and cool colours of the colour wheel through their Ted Harrisson inspired landscape artwork. We have been focusing on blending colours to create new colours as well as identifying how  warm and cool colours in art can make us feel. Some students created mountain landscapes whilst others created city skylines or beaches.

The 1/2 students have been exploring warm and cool primary and secondary colours through Mexican Sun and Moon (Sol and Luna) Art. We learnt about the unique features and style of painting suns and moons in different cultures. Students then created their own Sol and Luna and are showcasing the difference in cool and warm colours on their artwork with a warm sun and cool moon.

The Foundation students explored the primary colours and began to practice blending these together to create secondary colours. We used creativity and perseverance to blend red and yellow pastel to create orange, blue and yellow pastel to create green and red and blue pastel to create purple! We drew flower petals with the primary and secondary colours and are starting our self-portraits this week.

Terima Kasih and have a great week ahead,

Mrs Gill, Bu Mundy, Mrs B and Mrs Andrews.
