What's going on in

Visual Arts?

What a great way to start the year with all students returning and enthusiastically beginning their tasks in the Visual Arts areas.

An update to what our students have been up to:

Yr12 Studio Arts students have completed their Exploration Proposal, which is a written statement regarding what their theme will be for the year, and have also begun learning about two artists and analysing artworks. They have also begun to develop ideas and explore materials. They will be attending an excursion to the National Gallery of Victoria to view the Top Arts exhibition during the last week of term, which will be exciting for them.

The Senior Visual Communication classes have been developing their skills regarding, communication and technical drawing. The Senior Media students have been finalising what their productions will be for the year. The Media and Studio Arts students will also be attending an excursion to view Top Designs and Top Arts. This will allow students to see what previous students from Victoria have created in their VCE Visual Arts subject during 2021. Students often come back to school feeling very inspired and realise the expectations of their subject.

Junior students have been working just as hard and have already created artworks showing evidence in understanding the elements and principles in art and design. All junior students have learnt new terminology within the Visual Arts subjects and are showing that they are able to apply them in written work, which is pleasing to see.

Yr9 and 10 Visual Arts students are engaged with their learning. I have seen students with cameras in their hands, learning how to capture images, to students exploring various art forms materials and techniques, while other student are exploring developing designs on their laptops.

The Visual Arts staff are feeling very proud of our students and are excited to see how they develop throughout the year.
