Sustainability

Hello,

My name is Emily and as well as teaching Grade 1 this year I am the PMPS sustainability coordinator.

It has been great to join a team of staff and parents who are so passionate about creating a better environment for our children. Our parent community has done some amazing work over the last couple of years supporting our school and beginning our journey to be a ResourceSmart School and our staff are creating and implementing some really inspiring lessons around sustainability and environmental themes.

This year I will be focusing on student engagement and building our very passionate students' ability to take ownership over projects and initiatives. I will be supporting the students through running a club to research, choose, promote and take action on some projects themselves over the year.

As the first step, I am asking for students who want to help our school and community to be more environmentally conscious to sign up to join our ‘Green Team’ club. We will then be able to hit the ground running and meet as a group as soon as restrictions ease.

Our first order of business will be to design a logo and name for our group and to start researching some events or projects to work on. If this is something that your child is interested in, please encourage them to add their name to the list, either through the link below or by signing their name on the flyer sent to their class teachers.
