Term 3 English Report
The end of Term 3 is always bittersweet for us here in the English faculty. While we are excited to see our Year 12 students transition into their post-school lives, we will miss the close bonds formed over the duration of their time here with us. We are proud of the young adults they have become, and are confident that they will find success, whichever road they choose to travel.
I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate those Year 12 student who finished first in each of our English courses:
English Advanced Katie Lewis
English Standard Angela Sibley
English Studies Miranda Miller
English Extension 1 Katie Lewis
English Extension 2 Katie Lewis
We wish Year 12 the best of luck for their HSC Exams.
We have been impressed with our Stage 4 classes and their dramatic abilities this term. All of Year 8, and the Year 7 YAP class, have been studying a drama text – Frankenstein, Dracula, Hating Alison Ashley or Two Weeks with the Queen – and have been engaging with both critical and creative activities. The YAP classes performed their interpretations of specific scenes, while other classes have been making short films.
Like Year 8, Year 9 have also been studying a drama text. Through their close investigation of conflict in Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, the students represented their deep learning with creative visual representations. We are excited to have them on display next term. Year 9 have just begun a new unit called Media and Manipulation, where their critical thinking and analytical skills are refined and strengthened through a variety of engaging tasks.
Year 10 students have embarked on their study of dystopian fiction short stories, and are enjoying discovering the connections between our world and the nightmarish realities they are delving into. Finally, Year 11 have been completing their End of Course exams, and are almost ready to begin their HSC courses. As one door closes, another opens.
Enjoy the Spring holidays!

25th Annual CC Chess Competition
On Thursday 12 September a number of students travelled to Wyong High School to compete in the 25th Annual Central Coast Secondary Chess Competition.
Our school was represented by Matvei Arkhipov, Pasan Sembapperuma, Ryan Gavenlock, Adrian Crnalic and John Batuyong. These students were an absolute credit to the school in the way they conducted themselves and participated in the competition. Well done boys!
Special congratulations go to Pasan Sembapperuma who won first place in the 17-18 years division in the competition. Excellent work Pasan!
