Deputy Principal's Report
Years 7, 9 and 11
NAPLAN 2019
A huge congratulations to our amazing Year 7 and 9 students, teachers and community support.
As a Bump It Up School - Meeting the Premier’s Priority to increase the proportion of NSW students in the top two NAPLAN bands for reading and numeracy by 8% by 2019.
At Henry Kendall High School the Premier’s Priority for 2019 was an ambitious target of 24.8% of our students in the top two bands for Reading and Numeracy. In 2019, Year 7 and 9 achieved results placing 30.67% of our students in the top two bands across the two areas. This result is outstanding and supported by overall results representing students’ personal best. There was an overall improvement of 6.23%, with Year 7 Numeracy standing out with 40.38% of students with results in the top two bands.
A huge thanks to our Middle School teachers, English Faculty, Maths Faculty and the leadership of Ms Knight and Mr Wawrzyk.
'Students with strong literacy and numeracy skills are more likely to remain at school longer, complete their Higher School Certificate and continue on to tertiary education. The implementation of targeted reading and numeracy initiatives at the individual student, school, network and system level under the Bump It Up strategy will make a valuable contribution to improving life opportunities for our students.'
$20 Boss
Year 7 students and teachers are excited to share with you information about our Term 4 program ‘$20 Boss’.
What is $20 Boss?
$20 Boss is an in-school challenge, run by Year 7 at Henry Kendall High School, where student teams are provided with $20 of start-up money to create their own business. At the end of the program, students work collectively to decide on an appropriate charity to gift their earnings.
It’s a fantastic way to engage young people and encourage their entrepreneurial spirit. This unique learning experience encourages students to create a real world business while building important skills such as: innovation, creative thinking, financial literacy, collaboration, communication and teamwork. We believe it is important for students to be self-empowered and consider entrepreneurial careers in the future.
We look forward to the $20 Boss day and helping our community!

Year 11
Have just finished their Yearly Exams and are to be congratulated for their wonderful preparation, attendance and application during the exam period. I know they will be keen to receive their marks and feedback early next Term. Year 11 Reports will be available online through Sentral from the beginning of Week 5, 11 November.
To further support the transition into the HSC all Year 11 students will attend their personal interviews with members of the school executive, on Tuesday 15 October 2019. This process ensures that all students are making appropriate and successful choices in Year 12. If Year 11 students have not received information regards their interview times, please contact the school.
