Term 3 CAPA Report

Traditionally, Term 3 is the busiest for the Creative and Performing Arts Faculty, and it did not disappoint. Our HSC students across Drama, Visual Arts, Photography and Music have all submitted and performed their major works on time and with great success and potential. All that is left now is the written component in next terms HSC exam period. Their works have shown great maturity, refinement and creativity; whether it was a script, set design or group ensemble in the Drama course; a range of media including Painting, Sculpture and Photography in Visual Art and Photography courses; or Viva Voce’s and Performances in Music; the students have risen to the occasion, excelled at their chosen areas and demonstrated their resilience, adaptability and understanding of the world around them.

In between, we had several major annual events that celebrate all of our student’s success and creativity including the Performing Arts Nights (PAN) in Week 2 including a Henry Kendall Showcase and a combined Gosford City Learning Community Night, showcasing the talent from Henry Kendall High School, Gosford High School, Gosford Public School and Point Clare Public School.

Also, the wonderful VISTAS Exhibition showcasing the final works from the Visual Arts, Photography, Design & Technology, Society and Culture and English Extension opened and was well attended by all with some amazing insights to the intelligence and ability of students at Henry Kendall High School, and of course the outstanding abilities of the teachers that facilitated each of these areas.

Year 12 Music had a lovely, relaxed performance night for parents and friends just prior to their HSC Practical Examinations and was a great way for their families to get a glimpse into the work they have immersed themselves into for the past two years.

Year 10 Drama joined the Circus with their Clowning workshops, this really pushed the students to the edge of their capabilities with some really exciting skills be developed…watch this space demonstrating these new skills to the primary kids!!

Henry Kendall Music and Special Education departments were well represented at the annual Central Coast Showcase with many of our students performing during the matinee and evening shows, and also entertaining in the foyer before the show. Well done to Tyson, Skye, Joel, Kyle, Kyra and the Special Education Contemporary Dance Group and Signing Choirs.

And finally, a well done to Blake Wawrzyk and the Young Achievers Program Evening at the beginning of the term. It was a pleasure to be part of the celebrations of this fantastic program and to showcase the skills of our young citizens and the development of their many skills.
