Cricket

Our first day of a two day game against Hamilton was highlighted by a really steady bowling performance.  One quarter of the overs bowled were maidens and that included a difficult first 15 overs when the ball was wet and slippery.  After 17 overs, Hamilton had only scored 21 runs for the loss of one wicket.  Miserly bowlers included Campbell Craig, Eliza Jagger, Charlie Johnston, Ollie Wortley, Jack Wortley, Jason Hawker, Henry Bensch and Dougal Doery, who all averaged less than two runs per over.  Jack Wortley claimed the important scalp of Hamish Cook with a ball that found its way between bat and pad and clattered into the stumps.   “Wrecker” Layley claimed another two wickets to go with his three from the last game.  5/25 in two games – look out South Africa, here I come!

The team will be chasing 96 on Saturday and we look forward to a solid performance from our batsmen to match the efforts of the bowlers.

Boys' Hockey

Senior School boys who had advised me of their interest in being involved in hockey this year have received a further email from me regarding their possible allocation to competition-levels for the season.  Some brief information about the new Under 16 competition conditions was provided also.

I would like any feedback by early next week so I am able to send out the formal letters which seek a commitment to be involved from students and permission from parents in time to register teams later this term.

Any Year 6-12 boy who has not let me know they would like to play hockey this year and is keen to be involved should email me as soon as possible so I can include them in our planning.  Everyone who had previously done so should check their inboxes!
