TIMELINE:
NOW - There is still time to organise a meeting in Careers to set up and create your VTAC account and start your course application process. It is important to remember that some courses requiring Portfolios and Auditions do close much earlier than other courses and you may need to make a separate application for auditions and selection kits.
SOME EARLY CLOSING DATES:
Please note if you are applying for Fine Arts (all at University of Melbourne), Medicine (Monash) and Photography (NCAT) that they have early closing dates. The University of Melbourne Fine Arts - Dance, Screenwriting, Film & Television and Animation close as early as Saturday 31 August. All other Fine Arts, Medicine and Photography close as early as Monday 30 September. No late applications will be accepted.
For individual dates please visit this VTAC
Link: http://vtac.edu.au/who/early-close.html
For interstate courses please check the individual state admission centres.
30 SEPTEMBER: Submit your timely course applications. You can continue changing your preferences even after you have submitted your application. It is also a good idea to have your SEAS applications submitted. VTAC will provide feedback if necessary if you submit them before the deadline.
11 OCTOBER: Last day to finalise your Scholarships and SEAS applications. I recommend these be prepared well in advance to avoid a last minute rush.
JANUARY 2020: Receive your results and finalise your preferences. #Early January date to be confirmed but I will be talking more about this in due course.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to send me an email or make an appointment.

Future Skills Framework 2030 - FYA
"Australia is not equipped with the skills for the future of work"
"In the rapidly changing world of work Australia’s long-term economic growth will be reliant on an adequately skilled and educated workforce. FYA’s research provides strong evidence that our current and future workers are finding the transition to full-time work more challenging and feel they lack the right skills. Our ageing population means older Australians are leaving the workforce in larger numbers than young people can replace them and skill shortages are costing the economy."
"FYA’s Future Skills Framework 2030 outlines how Australian governments can work with young people, industry, educational institutions and leading thinkers across the country to move from talk to action, proposing four key things:
1. A National Future Skills Symposium - to identify a pathway to ensuring young people get the skills they need.
2. A digital platform for future career insights - that provides young people with localised information on the jobs available and the skills they need.
3. Enterprise and work-integrated learning initiatives - that provide relevant and immersive enterprise education and meaningful paid work experience.
4. An ongoing Future Skills research program - young people will need re-skilling due to automation."
