What's Happening

Harmony Week 2023

White Gum Valley Primary School promotes a rich and diverse school community. According to our records, we currently have 35 students who speak 14 different languages other than English at home. Many more speak another language in addition to English. We also have students who speak a variety different Australian dialects at home.

To promote our inclusive and diverse school, we are celebrating Harmony Week differently this year. Individual classes normally carry out different activities to celebrate our many different cultures. This year, we will be having a whole school Harmony Day assembly on Thursday 23March, which is being hosted by students in Room 11. Everyone is invited to attend.

All students are invited to dress in their national costume or wear orange on the day. Orange is the colour chosen to represent Harmony Week. We will also be having a parade where students who are dressed in their national costume will be invited to take part.

We would also like to invite our families to be part of the celebrations.

Bread plays a significant part in a lot of cultures and religions. We would love it if families would share their cultural/religious bread with other students in their child’s class/year group. If you would like to bring some bread into class to share with the students, please let your child’s teacher or Sam Tingle know. Please note that we are a nut aware school.

If you would like to share with us information about your culture or heritage in your child’s class or year group, please pass this on to your teacher.

Milo Drive

Dear White Gum Valley Community,

I would like to make a request to the community to ask you all for your support in supplying our school with Milo for Breakfast Club. Every Tuesday once a week myself, and some volunteers run Breakfast Club. Between 8:15am to 8:40am. This consists of cheezies, fruit, and Milo. These items for Breakfast Club, including emergency lunches, are all supplied by various charities such as: Foodbank, and Manna Inc. Due to low supplies of tinned Milo, our charities are no longer able to supply milo to the schools on their delivery runs.

However, I would like to take this time to say a big thank you to Foodbank, and Manna Inc.. For their support over the years, and we look forward to continuing our partnership with them.

Our students at our school love having Milos on Breakfast Club Day, and it would be a shame to not be able to continue the Milo tradition. So, this is where you could come to our rescue! If each household would be able to supply one tin of Milo to the school that would be amazing. Please leave all Milo tins at the school reception desk, and I will collect them from there.Thank you for your support, and generosity.

With Gratitude,

Evangeline Supra

This term we challenge you to crunch the rainbow for Crunch&Sip® by making a rainbow in your classroom. Eating different coloured fruits and vegetables provides lots of different vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals. Which is why crunching on a rainbow will help kids get the right balance of nutrients they need for a healthy body.
