Principal's Message

Dear Parents/Carers,

Congratulations to all of our students in Year 6 who nominated for a position as Councillor or Faction Captain and gave a speech to the students from Years 4-6.

An Electoral Commission representative came out to conduct the elections and emailed back the results.

Our first assembly, run by our new councillors and the year six students on what leadership looks like, was a great introduction for the school year.

Thank-you to the year 5/6 staff for organising the assembly and congratulations to all of the students who received Honour Certificates.

Well done also to a group of our students who received a certificate for entering the 2022 Premier’s Reading Challenge. Over 300,000 books were read and it will run again in 2023. Students enter online and are asked to read 12 books from May to September.

With our Swimming carnival scheduled for the morning of Friday 10 March, many of our students from years 4-6 undertook training this week at the Fremantle pool. This training will run on Tuesdays and Wednesdays under the direction of a group of volunteer parents led by Meredith.

Our thanks to the P&C for their assistance with the lane hire and reduced entry costs.

Thank you for supporting our Canteen which has recommenced for 2023. With a wonderful menu on Wednesdays and Fridays, there is something for everyone. Volunteers are always welcome to come along to assist.

Our thanks also to Gemma who put together the last uniform order and distributed this to parents before standing down as our Uniform Service representative.

The Uniform Service and canteen are run by the P&C.

At our recent AGM and General meeting, we had 21 parents who were able to attend and enjoy a get-together before the meetings commenced.

The school would like to thank all of the outgoing committee and congratulate all of the successful nominations for the 2023 committee.

The P&C approved funding for the Year Six Leavers’ shirts as well as the end of year book awards and class allowances for resources.

Thank you to Mrs Lorrimar-Shanks for assisting the school with putting in a number of plantings from APACE to replenish our ground covers.

At our recent Board meeting we thanked Ms Reid, who is currently on leave, for her involvement over the last 12 months. Our 2023 Board members are: Mr Daniel Gretton [ Chair], Ms Lee McIntosh, Ms Megan Bankes, Ms Teresa Matassa, Mr Russell Nicholls, Mrs Ellie Walker, Ms Sam Tingle, and Mr Glenn Rondoni. Currently the Board is working through the 2022 school survey, discussing various projects around the school, reviewing our finances and resource allocations, and working towards our new 2023/2025 Business Plan.

The Mural opening has been postponed until Friday 24 March and the Welcome Picnic is now scheduled for Friday 10 March.

The Welcome Picnic is very informal and is for new and old families to the school if they want to have a picnic afternoon tea on the oval. At some point, the Tug of War rope comes out as well as a few activities for the students.

More information on the Mural opening will come out shortly.

To assist with supervision in the mornings, students are asked to come to the Undercover area if they arrive between 8:00am-8:45am. Staff will be available from 8:30am-8:45am. We ask that students not play on the oval or play equipment unless with an adult during this time. Thanks for your support with this.
