From the Principal

Shannon Correll

Dear Families/Caregivers

This week we began the Lent period and our journey into Easter. On Tuesday we celebrated with pancakes on Shrove Tuesday and then celebrated Ash Wednesday Liturgy in our House Teams. These two events were a wonderful celebration of bringing our community together. A big thank you to all the families who came on Tuesday and we hope you enjoyed your breakfast together.

Over the last two weeks, our classes have been very busy with their learning. Once again we have divided our literacy classes into year-level groups - which means smaller classes and we continue to provide excellence in our education. We have seen a big growth in our literacy levels since targeting reading and writing as our main focus as a school. We will continue to make this a focus for 2023 and we will use Mr Puttnins expertise to begin to look at numeracy in the school and ways we can begin to support our students in this area too.

We have had a number of new families arrive in our school and we have welcomed them to our community. They bring their gifts and talents to our school and we can't wait to learn more about them. We have also welcomed back an old family who returned to St Brigid's School after some time away.

Thursday and Friday Ms Burns and I were attending a conference where every Catholic School Principal was in attendance. It was a wonderful opportunity to be in dialogue about the Catholic identity of St Brigd's School, and share how we embrace the many faiths that make up our school community. St Brigid's is such a welcoming school where students certainly feel a sense of belonging once they come through the school gate. The staff, students and wider community certainly help to make it such a wonderful school.

Next week we will have our last school board meeting with the current members, if you would like to support the school and represent families on the School Board, please come and speak with Shannon. Our Annual General Meeting will be held on Tuesday 4th of April at 7 pm.

Have a wonderful week.

Yours in Love, Peace and Learning
