John XXIII Rowing Club

The 2023 rowing season is now in full swing, with the boys attending their first water training. There has already been great progress made by all rowers and we look forward to seeing them refine their skills as  the season progresses.

It is expected that our routine of getting on and off the water will take a few weeks to refine; it has been great to see all rowers showing initiative to get the job done.  If you are unsure how you can assist with set-up and pack down, I ask that rowers show initiative or ask a coach how they can help. Just like when we are on the water, everything is faster and more efficient when we pull together!

SOUTH WEST HEAD OF THE RIVER: 24-25 MARCH 2023

The South West Head of the River is fast approaching! This fun regatta is held at the Bunbury Rowing Club, Cobblestone Drive, Bunbury on Saturday 25 March 2023.

Rowers and their families traditionally head down on Friday and stay overnight in Bunbury. There are many accommodation options in Bunbury, most families stay at The Lighthouse, The Mantra, or the Lord Forrest. If you haven’t made your accommodation arrangements, we suggest making them soon to avoid missing out as families from other schools also stay in Bunbury overnight.

UPDATE: Family rowing dinner – Friday 24 March

Due to the lack of lighting outside the Bunbury Rowing Club, the Family Rowing Dinner will now be held in the Hall inside the Bunbury Rowing Club at 6:30pm on Friday 24 March. More information will be distributed in the next fortnight.

Regatta

A BBQ breakfast will be provided from 6:30am on Saturday 25 March on the foreshore of the Bunbury Rowing Club. For those families intending to travel down on Saturday 25 March, you will need to be at the Bunbury Rowing Club no later than 7:00 am. The Regatta commences at 8am and finishes at approximately 1:30pm.

ALL ROWERS will be required for boat unloading at the JTC Boatshed on Sunday 26 March 8:00am.
