Art Room News

Creativity takes courage. Henri Matisse

Hello RHPS Artists,

We are at the halfway mark of the term and the art room is in full swing!

Preps have been creating sea creatures and showing their amazing fine motor skills of cutting, gluing and drawing. They have also begun learning about the art elements of line and colour whilst making their line creatures. The preps have drawn a variety of lines and painted with a range of colours from the rainbow. Next week we will add eyes, mouths, teeth and hair to bring these pieces to life.

Our Grade 1/2 Bunjil artwork inspired by artist Melanie Hava look absolutely beautiful down the corridors. They bring so much colour and joy as the students search for their art. They have been very busy getting familiar with the art elements of form and shape as they create papier mache bird nests and this week we made bird armatures (skeletons) that we will papier mache next week.

The Grade 3/4s Melanie Hava artwork looks fabulous as they finish their first piece of art for the term. Each piece is unique, colourful and made with care. The 34 artists will begin learning about the art element of form as they learn about the Tjanpi Desert Weaver community and they will start to make their 3D woven animal of choice. These will no doubt be a favourite.

Our Grade 56 artists are finishing up their magpie artwork this week and will begin their Melanie Hava inspired art piece next week. I am looking forward to see what their creative minds can imagine for their next piece of art.
