Welcome back to school! In particular, we welcome our Year 7 students to their exciting new adventures in all things Science – it has been exciting to see all of the classes setting up for learning, meeting their teachers and enjoying the adventures that secondary school presents. This term will begin with an insight into “what is science” and “safety in the science room”.

What’s happening at each year level?

Year 8’s have started the term investigating energy – they will focus on the two key types of energy; kinetic and potential. Our Year 9’s are working on their Geology assignments where they are looking at fossils, their formation and how where they are found around the world can provide links to relatedness. They will begin studying Biology in the next week.

Year 10 Biology are working on their understanding of viruses by completing a research task on the COVID-19 virus. The chemistry class at Year 10 are learning about atomic theory and the Physics students are learning about sound waves. Our Year 10 Psychology classes have started the year by learning about what Psychology is and some of the myths that surround the science.
