Challenge and Enrichment

Vermont Secondary College

Victorian High-Ability Program

Vermont Secondary College is proud to announce that 36 of our current Year 8 students have been selected to take part in the Victorian High-Ability Program during Term 1.

The VHAP’s online lessons, which provide students with the opportunity to extend their skills and knowledge in either English or Maths, have started this week. Our VHAP students will meet in the school library to join their new teachers and classmates online in a virtual classroom once a week for the rest of this term.

The Victorian High-Ability Program (VHAP) is a key initiative of the Department of Education’s ‘Student Excellence Program’ and aims to provide an enriching learning experience to challenge and extend our high-ability students in English or mathematics over a 10- week course. The program offers students from grades 5 to Year 8 the opportunity to engage with like-minded peers, and the program will also support their confidence and wellbeing.

Details regarding a range of programs and educational opportunities offered as a part of the Student Excellence Program’s ‘Challenge and Enrichment Series’ will be advertised in this section of the school newsletter throughout the year.

We wish to congratulate our current VHAP students on their selection for this program and we look forward to supporting more of our high-ability students to take on opportunities to engage further in their education and extend themselves throughout 2023.
