A message from the Principal

School Communications in 2023

I am struggling to believe that we are only two weeks into the new school year.

As this newsletter demonstrates, our staff and students have certainly 'hit the ground running' in 2023 and the past fortnight has been full of activity as classes go on excursions, sporting events begin, our Kitchen Garden program has started up and our students complete their 'Creating a Positive School Environment' (CAPSE) program, prior to a more formal curriculum starting next week.

In this newsletter, you will read about this, alongside important news about upcoming parent information sessions and parent-teacher interviews. You will read about ways to get involved at SKiPPS as a Class Rep or through our upcoming School Council nomination process. We also share exciting information about community events like Jazz in the Park and our Foundation picnic.

With so much going on, a major difficulty is always going to be around how we best communicate with families - how to keep you informed without bombarding you with emails, updates and notifications. We know that too much communication leads to people switching off and missing the really important stuff.

As a result, we have made the decision to move to a weekly newsletter in 2023 and to reduce our other updates and communications. Our newsletter is our primary means of communication with families, meaning that all of the information you might need is kept in one place and delivered to your inbox for you to access and read in one go, rather than sending you multiple Compass news feed items each day.

This means that we will send fewer communications overall and strongly recommend that you make time each week to read the newsletter - your one-stop location for all things SKiPPS. Doing this will mean that you stay up to date and don't miss out on important news regarding your child's education.

From next week, the newsletter will be sent out each Wednesday, delivered to your inbox, uploaded onto our website and Compass newsfeed and shared on our Facebook page.

Please ensure that you are subscribed to our newsletter at https://www.skipps.vic.edu.au/community/newsletter/

Those of you on social media might also like to 'like' the school's Facebook page - a platform we use to share celebrations of all the great things happening at our wonderful school. https://www.facebook.com/StKildaPark
