Carnivals & Interschool Sport and House news

Term 1 has flown and we have been impressed with the efforts of our students competing in interschool sport. Please find set out below a few important reminders for Interschool Sport:

  1. Check Compass regularly for information about team sign-ups.
  2. Please ensure payment and consent is provided by the due date. Students are unable to attend the event if we do not have this.
  3. If students decide to pull out of the event before the day, they MUST let either the teacher coaching the team OR Miss Prosenak know ASAP so that we can find another student as a replacement. If not, the team may not have enough players and be unable to go.

Division Swimming (thank you to Trevor vanden Driesen for the photos and article)

Congratulations to all Koonung students who represented the school at the Division swimming sports at Aquarena (Doncaster) on the Friday prior to the long weekend. Athletics Carnival

A reminder that the Koonung Athletics Carnival will be held on Friday 5 May at Hagenauer Reserve in Box Hill. Students are to come to school at normal time and go to their Period 1 class for roll marking. They will then walk with their teacher to the venue. The event will end at approx. 2.30pm and students will be dismissed from the venue. Staff will be available to supervise students walking back to school. Students should be wearing their Koonung sports uniform with a coloured tee shirt of their house. Costumes are permitted for those entering the best dressed competition. This is not a free dress day.

Swimming Carnival recap...

What a day! Great weather, a great atmosphere, and great to see everyone dive into the action! The day started as it always does with the Costume Parade, and we had a surprise visit from not 1 Spiderman but 31 Spidermen! It was amazing to see everyone getting involved in either competition events or novelty events and supporting their houses in great spirits. We are proud house captains. Even though all houses put up a great fight, McCubbin went home as swimming carnival champions. We had many events throughout the day from freestyle, backstroke, and diving to a range of novelty events such as the Lapathon, The Biggest Splash, Water Volleyball, and the House Relay. It was wonderful to see everyone’s contributions throughout the day, for yet another successful Koonung Swimming Carnival. It was great to see participation in not only the competitive events but a wide range of participation throughout the entirety of the day in Basketball. Very proud of everyone.
