Prep
Welcome back Preps to term 2 learning which may look a little different from being inside the gym but it's important we stay active!
This week we are going to start our gymnastics unitof work so find a space at home, lets start by watching the video below.
Link video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q-OjkbdHnrc
Task 1: From the video make up 5 large and 5 small based balances. Remember a balance is only balance if you can hold the shape and count to 3 elephants.
Task 2: Choose your favourite large base and small based balance balances and link them together.
Parent Tip: Linking refers to moving into a new balance (please refer to video for ideas).
Task 3: Now think of a starting and finishing position. It's like making up a sentence, we start with a capital letter and finish with a full stop. Before your first balance start in a tall shape, move into your first balance, link to your second and finish low to the ground like a full stop.
Task 4: Perform your work in front of an audience.
Parent Tip: Please give feedback on the sequence work you have seen.
Grade 1
Welcome back to an exciting term of learning! We are starting term 2 with our gymnastics unit of work which I know you enjoyed doing last year. Go find yourself a space at home, watch the short video and start creating your balances.
Link to video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jvO94eiP0Pw
Task 1: Create 10 different ways of balancing safely in the space that you have.
Task 2: Choose your favourite 2 balances and link them together, remember a balance is only a balance if we can hold a shape and count to 3 elephants.
Task 3: Last year we looked at different ways of travelling like an animal (giraffe, elephant, kangaroo, snake, rabbit etc). Show how 5 different animals might travel.
Task 4: Travel like your favourite animal into your first balance, hold it for 3 seconds, travel like your second favourite animal into your second balance and finish.
Task 5: Perform your sequence in front of an audience.Parent Tip: When watching the performing please give feedback. What did you enjoy? What could you improve on?

Task 1: Using an object when we are balancing. Choose an object around the house (refer to video for examples) and use it when balancing. Make up 5 different balances.
Task 2: Choose your 2 favourite balances and link them together. A balance is only a balance if we can hold it for 3 seconds.
Task 3: Adding to your balances - think of a starting position, hold your starting position and travel into your first balance, move into your second balance and travel into your finishing position. Hold the shape.
Parent Tip: Travel refers to moving the body forward, backwards or sideways. Both the starting positions and finishing positions should be held to indicate the start and finish of the sequence.
Task 4: Perform your work in front of an audience and get feedback.
Parent Tip: When watching the performance give your child feedback on what you enjoyed about the performance and something they could improve.

It is important to stay active and healthy during these times. It is recommended that students participate in 30 minutes of physical activity each day. This could include jogging, running, skipping or practicing ball skills. We have included some links with additional activities and Mrs Travis' workouts from home. (Parent Tip - the workouts can be repeated and your child can choose and decide how many repetitions of an exercise they do) . Children and parents can actively get involved and exercise together.
