Digital Learning

Digital Learning at Brookside

As part of the Brookside College Digital Technologies program, we aim to provide a high quality education that will inform students about their safety when online and that will prepare them for life after schooling. Being prepared for a cyber-smart future is a key learning point in all year levels, but what are the impacts of cybercrime on Australians? With cybersecurity being a booming career are that helps us stay safe online, here’s why it’s such a big deal right now:

Tech is everywhere and many people spend an increasing amount of time in front of a screen as part of their jobs, for example; scientists spend just as much time in front of a screen as they do in the lab. Teaching in the 21st century isn’t just about teaching students how to code or about robots, it’s equipping students with the skills to communicate on collaborative documents using applications such as Word Online, teaching how to present information in an eye-catching way using graphs, tables and images and enabling students to understand online safety procedures.

Throughout 2019, teachers have upskilled themselves so that they can better teach their students many of the skills involved with the Digital Technologies. While there is still some work to do to continue to equip our students with the skills they need, we are hoping that 2020 is bigger and better in Brookside College’s Digital Technologies.

Teachers at Brookside College endeavour to provide students with the skills to reach their fullest potential, and with any luck, that will be a career in Digital Technologies.
