ANZAC DAY 2021

ANZAC DAY

On Anzac day we had several students representing the College at both the Mornington march and ceremony, and the Mount Eliza Ceremony. Callum Mann, college Captain placed a wreath on behalf of the school and Alex Hutchison did a wonderful job at reading a poem at the Mornington service. Abbey Bradley and John Papadopolou represented The College at the Mount Eliza service.    After the disappointment of 2019, the sense of occasion and reflection at both events was eminent, with large numbers attending. The Main Street of Morning was abuzz with bands and young people marching from Primary schools, Secondary schools, local groups like Scouts and of course serving members of our armed forces.

STUDENT REFLFECTIONS - ANZAC DAY CELEBRATIONS

Representing The College at the Mornington Anzac Day March was an extreme honour and an experience that I will never forget. Having a chance to place a wreath in honour of those brave individuals who lost their lives fighting for this country will always remain such a significant distinction. Being able to remember those who fought for us is always such an important event in our nation’s history, and I am beyond proud that myself and my fellow leadership team were able to represent the college on this compelling day-

Callum Mann

"I believe that celebrating ANZAC Day with those that build our community is so important, and the Mornington and Mount ceremonies involve everyone willing to pitch in. These ceremonies embody the community spirit and it is wonderful to see the community to gather together to honour those who have served for our country."

Abbey Bradley

The Anzac assembly last Thursday was a fun but nerve wracking experience, as I  have never spoken in a public forum before.  It was a great opportunity to build confidence and will help towards any future experiences.
