Lizzie's Library News

In the Library this term we have made displays that have turned out really well (see below).  The new library team members have been very committed with their help duties such as shelving and helping with these displays.  A new Manga Club has begun for anyone and everyone who loves Manga and are willing to join.  There are lots of new books that been put on display and on the shelves this term and we recommend everyone to come read/borrow them.  Mrs Swannell is always here if anyone needs help choosing or with anything else like bibliographies or printing.

'Other side of the sky'

Amie Kaufman & Megan Spooner

****/5

This is an action-packed story combining the best fantasy, sci-fi science and religion.  The brilliant imagery allows for eaders to lose themselves on Mimh and North's world.  With surprising plot twists and the action of star-crossed romance, this book was thrilling and a pleasure to read.

'One of Us is Next'

Karen McManus

*****/5

One of Us Is Next is the second adventure packed book by McManus with 372 pages of twists and turns about the students of Bayview High that you won’t be able to put down.

It’s another year at Bayview and a Simon “copycat” is in town. A school wide game of truth or dare breaks out - seems fun, right? It takes a turn for the worst and before you know it the game turns deadly…

This is an amazing book about the lives of 3 teenagers whose lives get turned upside down. I recommend this book to people over 12 years.

'Blood of Elves: The Witcher'

by Andrzej Sapkowski

*****/5

Set in mythical lands, Geralt of Rivia famously known as ‘The Witcher’ and one of the protagonists holds great mutant powers and is ready to use them for the soon war. In the journey to save others and be the hero he realises Ciri is the prophecy to stop the war and evil. Part of the series ‘The Witcher’, with 6 novels and 15 short stories, Andrzej’s story is exciting and a great read! You might also like this book if you are interested in the Game of Thrones.

'Henry Hamlet's Heart'

by Rhiannon Wilde

****/5

Henry didn't expect much from his last year of school, with graduation right around the corner the only thing he knew he could count on was his best friend Len. All of a sudden Henry's life is turned upside down, was it always this hard to just be friends? I enjoyed how this book captured the youthful confusion and uneasiness of falling in love, whether it will ruin everything or create a new start. I'd recommend this book to those who enjoy reading YA contemporary romances novels such as Heartstopper by Alice Oseman.
