SPORT REPORT TERM 2 

What a successful and eventful beginning to term 2! Last week I was lucky enough to escort 87 students to the SSV Southern Peninsula District Athletics Championships at Ballam Park. The effort, support for each other, and participation from all our students was outstanding, I’m so proud to be a staff member at Mount Eliza SC. The year 7 girls won all field and running events in their age group except for two in which they came 2nd and 4th. 

The following students will make up a MESC Regional team that have progressed to the Southern Metropolitan Regional Finals at Casey Fields in October. Students need to finish 1st in any event or 1st/2nd in 800m and 1500m at district level to qualify: 

 

Charlee Vincent – 12-13 years 80m hurdles, 200m, 400m

Gracie Fielden – 15 years 100m, 400m 

Stella Fordyce-Burke – 12-13 years 800m, 1500m. 1st place at district.

Suzanne Eckert – 18-20 years 1500m 

Ruby Howe – 12-13 years 100m

Giselle Cranwell-Gray – 14 years 200m, 4x100m relay

Jessica Berry – 12-13 years high jump (broke record at district)

Maddy Morris – 14 years high jump

Jacquilie Church – 12-13 years shot put

Baylin Williamson – 15 years 200m, 400

Riley Granville – 14 years 400m 

Liam Dermott – 17 years long jump (Liam won this event by 40cm)

Tommy Nissen – 16 years shot put

James Barnes – 17 years Javelin

Ellie Ford – 4x100 relay

Jessica Taylor – 4x100 relay

Alegra Itura – 4 x 100 relay

 

In addition to this outstanding day at district athletics, Monday the 3rd of May was the 2021 House Cross Country Championships. Thanks to our in-house photographer David Gregory for taking some amazing shots! I’m pleased to announce the winning house and champion students:

 

1st - Kimmuli (1009 points)

2nd - Kirrang (1032 points)

3rd - Warringa (1087 points)

4th - Manyung (1278 points)

*Please note the house with the least points win in cross country. 

 

2021 HOUSE CROSS COUNTRY RESULTS 

 

The Intermediate Girls Tennis Team competed at Regional Finals last Friday in Brighton where they placed second overall. Another amazing achievement! Congratulations to the following students: Milla English, Aria Chidambaranathan, Lily Aston, Freya Hollingsworth, Remme Mason, Chloe Mitchell and Maisie York. 

 

I would finally like to wish our Senior Boys Volleyball Team the best of luck on Monday where they will compete in the Regional Finals. The team are made up of mostly year 12's and have been playing together since year 7. Thank you to Alan Piper from the health and PE team for mentoring and coaching them over the last 6 years. Go MESC!

ALEX HUTCHISON

In April Alex Hutchison (Year 12 & School Captain) competed in Sydney at the Australian Open Karate Championships. Alex won Gold in her division in the Under 21 and Silver in the Seniors in Sydney. Alex is pictured with her Sensei Peter. 

 

EBONY GRAEME 

Ebony Graeme who is in year 7 competed in the Regional and State Diving Championships recently. She won her regional event by 21 points in the morning and then continued on into the afternoon to win the State Title.   Pictured you will find a great photo of Ebony with her medal.
